(VIDEO) Former Westboro Baptist Member’s Inspiring TED Talk

This may be the most inspirational 15 minute video I’ve seen in some time.

Please, take the time to watch this:

“It was a relief and a privilege to let go of the harsh judgments that instinctively ran through my mind of nearly every person I saw.”

She has some emotional and powerful insights on how we can and should engage others who disagree with us.

Hopefully this resonates with us wherever we are. Whether we’re a Christian who looks down on those who don’t hold the same beliefs or moral code as we do (as Megan Phelps-Roper did) or as a right or left winged person vilifying the other side or any of a number of other positions we can hold that we feel justified in holding but also gives us a righteous indignation towards those who can’t see the obvious truths that we do.

“The good news is that it’s simple. The bad news is that it’s hard.”
