X-Men: Apocalypse First Trailer

It’s a great time to be a nerd.

Each morning my kids wake up and rip off one link in their paper chain that is the countdown to Christmas. I wake up and rip a link of mine that is the countdown to Star Wars VII: the Force Awakens.

Under normal circumstances, that would be enough to fill my nerd heart for another year but 2015 has been packed and the future is just as promising.

Daredevil on Netflix may be my favorite thing this year and knowing that they are shooting season 2 with Jon Bernthal (Shane from the Walking Dead) as the Punisher (my favorite Marvel character) has me already making a paper chain for the “man without fear” and his return.

There’s also the gritty and dark Jessica Jones on Netflix and the streaming company isn’t stopping there as Luke Cage is in the works too.

Season 6 of the Walking Dead was strong but the second half is going to be unforgettable as they’ve started down the “All Out War” storyline from the comic with the introduction of Negan and I feel that this story is simply one of the best things I’ve ever read in a comic. Fans – things will never be the same…hopefully…

We’ve also got an embarrassment of riches on the silver screen.

Recently, we’ve seen new trailers for Captain America: Civil War and Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Today, I saw the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse and I’ll just saw this: for me, the X-Men are THE premiere team in the Marvel Universe and even though the House of Mouse isn’t producing this franchise right now, Fox has done well with the franchise. In fact, my personal opinion is that X-Men:Days of Future Past is the best comic based movie yet.

The cast is undeniable in terms of star power. Returning stars Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Evan Peters as Quicksilver (a much better Quicksilver than the one that appeared in the Avengers: Age of Ultron), and James McAvoy who encapsulates all that is Professor X.

They are joined by new cast members Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, and the unbelievably talented Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewn Davis, Star Wars: the Force Awakens) as Apocalypse.

This movie is stacked with talent and I for one, see this as the #1 must see movie (as of right now) for 2016.

Be excited, nerd friends. This is our time.

And the future is ours too.

Here’s the first trailer for the new movie.
